Suspenseful as EverJun 20, 2011
By Tristan A. Hayes Bakuman vol 5 starts at chp 35 and ends with chp 43. It continues the quest of several members of Team Fukuda, aspiring manga artists on their quest to take over Shonen Jump by storm, and introduces additional characters, such as a new rookie, Hiramaru who quickly becomes friends with Eiji, new assistant editors, and a new editor or two. Ultimately, this volume continues the series tradition of making an appealing story out of the manga industry, with some insights into voice acting.
Character interactions were amazing this chapter, with editors and assistants quickly becoming well developed and familiar with the cast. The Nakai and Aoki subplot climaxes and resolves making both of them more likeable than they were in Vol 4. Hiramaru, another genious seems to be down to earth and brings in some good comedy with his manga, that is covered in this volume. Lastly, Saiko and Miho are driven to possibly their first conflict, how did they manage, well you will have to read it!
This was a great volume and fun as ever. I actually finished it in one day, and that final chapter, wow, vol 6 can not come fast enough. This has definitely been a memorable 43 chapters. Definitely pick it up!
How much better can you get?Aug 05, 2011
By Bentosama I always loved manga. Especially Shonen Jump, and when I read the 1st chapter preview of Bakuman, I just HAD to go and buy it at the store. Then, I was buying all the volumes before I knew it. Bakuman is very written and illustrated, and I admire Ohba & Obata's splendid work. I hope series goes well!
This one got my brother hooked tooJul 28, 2011
By Peter Hernandez I got my brother to pick up the first volume when he saw me reading volume 5. He quickly caught up and was just as excited of the story as I. Just enough romance to entertain without coming off as cheesy, funny genuine interactions between well developed and likeable characters. Great struggles and even better payoffs, its got it all. This series just keeps getting more and more entertaining.
My brother is considering buying his own copies, and we live in the same house
