5Another favorite in the seriesOct 16, 2009
Though I was a little worried about where the series was heading in the last few books, Vol. 12 clears up a lot of questions. Like another review I think the karate thing dragged on a bit, but I believe we all just wanted to see some more Alita action and we're getting antsy. You have to give it to Mr. Kishiro who gives backstory on almost all his characters unlike most manga just focusing on the main character.

5stars/5stars (probably biased) for me.

Recommend this for any new or old manga reader!

4Pretty darn good!!!Oct 08, 2009
I love this manga. I have all of the Battle Angel Alita and Last Order novels, and I can say this is about THE BEST Last Order novel so far, in my opinion!

The first part is Alita's return; it's amazing, thrilling, and so exciting! Mbadi no longer can control Alita through hacking, and chaos ensues at the ZOTT. I won't spoil anymore for you, but it's fantastic! Alita's new powers are unfathomable.

After the serious action of the first part, the story really picks up in an intriguing way. I love what it introduced, such as the Sword of Damocles, and something is up with Zazie.

Humor also returns with the "Great Karate War", as it is called.

We also find out why Mbadi turned so evil, and when he started getting multiple brain chips and the effect of those on him.

Super Nova also appears and so does "Tzyk The Brute" (now called Tsykrow) from volume 7 of Last Order, Alita's old Panzer Kunst teacher from Mars! Nova requests his brain and takes him back to Mars for unknown reasons (though if you read the original series, I'm sure you can imagine!).

The translation is pretty well done too.

The only reason I gave it four stars out of five is the end. The Karate thing drags on, but the last few pages with Raka the rapist are fascinating (no hentai or rape, don't worry!). and Toji gives Alita this weird metaphor that I felt was poorly executed.

Overall, I absolutely LOVED this volume!!!!! Highly recommended, it's just the end part that was a bit irking for me (I find all the Karate stuff silly).
