Another magnificent workDec 17, 2009
By Mistress Shizuka If you have read Black Cat up to this point you know the basic story line. Train Heartnet, fellow sweeper Sven, and the bioweapon Eve continue their story. In this volume they are still on the island Creed controls as head of the Apostles of the Star. Train fights with the Taoist Shiki and we see what the cat's claws are really made of. We also see the end of the fight between River and the creepy bug man that he has been up in charge of. In the typical fashion of Black Cat, the group wins and goes off to fight a newer and stronger enemy. The character development contiues to shine as we see Eve coming through even more. She has the heart of a true sweeper, wishing to help and not destroy. A very cute and touching moment for the series.
By the end, Sven has split off and left Eve in the care of Train. They come upon a strange room that seems to look like they have fallen into a desert. If all is correct it has to be the work of that crazy doctor. It ends with a shot of Train's favorite fan, Kyoko, calling out to "Master Black." So if you liked the previous 16 books you're going to like this one. If not, why are you reading this? Either way, it's a good installment that will lead us onto only a few more books before the series ends at number 20.
