5Betrayals and deception...Aug 01, 2011
By Lesley Aeschliman
This volume opens with Sango attacking Inuyasha, because Naraku tricks her into thinking that Inuyasha was responsible for destroying her village. Miroku, meanwhile has a confrontation with Naraku. After the fight, Kagome and the others take Sango with them, so she can heal from her wounds. During another run-in with Naraku, Sango learns the truth about what happened. They return to Sango's village for her to recuperate. While they're there, Sango tells them about how the Shikon jewel came into existence.

After Sango has healed, the group continues on its way. They come across a village that is having to sacrifice its children to a water god. Kagome and the group end up entangled in the situation. After that adventure, Miroku is tricked by a demon disguised as a beautiful woman. When he has to use his wind tunnel to handle the situation, the demon ends up cutting his wind tunnel bigger. Miroku goes to see Mushin, the monk who raised him after Miroku's father died; Miroku wants Mushin to heal his injury. While Miroku is there, Mushin is possessed by an urn grub. Inuyasha and the others come to Miroku's aid to help him fight off the possessed Mushin and the other demons who have come to kill Miroku.

This is followed by Sango discovering that Naraku has resurrected her younger brother, Kohaku, by embedding a Shikon jewel shard in him. Naraku blackmails Sango into stealing Inuyasha's sword, the Tetsusaiga. Sango ends up betraying the group, and a major confrontation takes place at Naraku's castle. During the fight, Sango's cat, Kirara, is poisoned. When Kagome and Inuyasha go to get some medicinal herbs to help Kirara, they learn about a half demon named Jienji who is despised by the people in a nearby village. The volume ends with Inuyasha, Miroku, Kagome, and Kikyo into a cave to look for demons, and they come across more than they bargained for.

This is another excellent volume of the Inuyasha VIZBIG editions. Another one of my favorite story arcs (the story about Jienji) is included in this volume. As with the previous volumes, Takahashi's art style for her characters really captures their emotions. This art style is especially effective for the "human interest" stories, such as the Jienji arc. The reader can really see the half demon's emotions and believe that he is sincere. Just like with the previous volumes, it should be noted that there are occasional drawings in the book that contain female nudity. Hence, the "T+" rating given for this manga volume.

This VIZBig Edition for Inuyasha was published in 2010. Inuyasha is rated "T+," which means the series is being aimed at older teens.

I wrote this review of this Inuyasha manga volume after reading a copy of it that my husband and I purchased.

5Another great rendition of the mangaOct 16, 2010

This is another in the VizBig line of bundled manga books. The paper quality is excellent and all the drawing panels have been remastered and re-flipped back to their original Japanese right to left orientation.

This one covers Volumes 10 through 12 of the manga and continues the story of Inuyasha's and Kagome's quest for the missing shards of the Shikon Jewel. It is basically a collector's book and, as mentioned, renders the drawing panels in their "as drawn" configuration. Now you can read the manga as is was originally written, except translated into English. As a collection of three volumes, it has its own "original" cover, taken from some of the authors drawings. The original three book covers are reproduced at the end of the book and a couple of extra drawings are thrown in, as well, in that section.

This book is built to last a lot longer than the original comics Viz published. So it will make a nice addition to, or replacement for. anyone's collection. It's also a good volume for anyone who ever wanted to collect this manga.

The best part is that the remastered drawings are much clearer and cleaner than the original published manga volumes. Anyone who has read them will probably notice details they never saw before.
