Black Belt in a Week?!Jul 14, 2009
By manga girl 101 This volume starts where the last one left off- Suzuki "thinking about" whether to give up Chiharu or not, and Chiharu being upset that he even needs to think about it. Risa and Otani walk Suzuki to the Judo hall so he can tell the guy off, but Otani goes overboard and promises that Suzuki is a black belt in Judo and that they will fight in a week. But with a lot of training, and some help from Risa, Suzuki defeats him.
Then Otani wants to go to Risa's house to meet her parents properly, but can't until her brother gets over being rejected by his High Schools of choice. Even after they get that resolved and Otani is at Risa's, her Grandpa comes home from overseas and is not pleased with Otani. He is determined that Risa should have a taller boyfriend, and after trying to set Risa up doesn't work, he hires someone to distract Otani so he can convince Risa that Otani's cheating on her. At first she trusts him, but then it starts to work...
I thought this volume was a little bit of a letdown after 12, but still five-star worthy. It was cute, funny, and Otani starts to be a little less embarrassed to share his feelings with Risa. Definitely pick this one up.
