5Shippuden Rocks!Aug 12, 2009
By gemini
Naruto Shippuden is a little different from the early Naruto years. But it is high octane adrenaline! The action and story line arc takes up to 30 episodes before Sai comes into the picture. The only dissappointment I feel is in Viz Media, why are they bothering to release Shippuden 1 disc (4 episodes) at a time? They should go directly to box sets! And by box sets I mean, they should carry at least 20 episodes or more. Shipuden season 1 is like 50 or more episodes, each season is huge! Viz Media, why must you milk us of our hard earned money and give us so little in return?! Anyone who buys this disc or the previous disc in this series, I suggest you hold off watching them until you have disc 10 in hand, these episodes catch you and never let you go, you will writhe in agony until the next release!

5The Gara Rescue Quest BeginsAug 31, 2009
By Rich "xman"
These episodes will get to show us how much the other Konoha 11 have grown since Naruto has been away from his friends and teachers, as you see Naruto reuniting with his friends and finding out what has been happening Gara finds himself locked in battle with one of the elusive Akatsuki who have been sent to the hidden sand village to capture him. AS soon as Naruto finds out he of course rushes to aid his friend and fellow jinchuriki(A Person who has a sealed tailed demon in him/her)as he journeys to the sand village with Kakashi, Sakura, and Temari what is happening to Gara ignites his own anger as he knows the Akatsuki only see him and the other jinchuriki as nothing more than monster vessels to use in their insidious scheme. The series is still very entertaining and follows the manga series almost perfectly there are of course a few minor differences but nothing to big to worry about. I do hope that they'll release uncut box sets like they did with Naruto but I guess will just have to wait an see. So for all fans rejoice again as the Shippuden episodes have finally arrived for us all to enjoy...

5Shippuden DVD 2 Continues the High Note!Nov 25, 2009
By Tristan A. Hayes
Naruto Shippuden Vol 2 is the second in the long line of English Voiced releases of the 2nd part to the famed Naruto series. This DVD contains episodes 5 through 8 of the series...

Like I did for the first review, the episode number is listed, followed by the title of the episode (as noted on the back of the DVD box) with, from my experience the locations in the manga (both chapters in Shonen Jump as well as the actual Manga) of the events that the episode captures).

5: The Kazekage Stands Tall (Manga Vol 28 (Chapters 249, 247)
6: Mission Cleared (Manga Vol 28 (Chapters 249,and a scene from 248 )
7: Run, Kankuro (Manga Vol 28 (Chapter 250)
8: Team Kakashi, Deployed(Manga Vol 28 (Chapters 250, 251)

These four episodes are a joy to watch, rewatch, and rewatch again. There are so many great moments, such as Deidara's line "true art, is an explosion!!!!" it is so memorable in the second episode. Actually he is a personal favorite of mine as a member of the Akatsuki. There is also the moment, though it isnt in the manga, but when Tsunade and Shizune try to find missions for Naruto and Sakura, and then you see the response of both of them when they give the mission to Naruto. In the episode 5, there is a great scene in which you can see how Naruto has had a positive effect on Lord Kazekage (Gaara). There are many other great moments in these episodes, and it is just a joy to watch.

The opening uses is Hero's Come Back by Nobodyknows+ and the ending theme is Shooting Star by Home Made Kazoku. These two songs, used in the first four episodes, are still perfect for the anime. The ending theme captures the idea of trying to reach for the stars, and to just reach to be the best, while the intro is perfect for the homecoming arrival of Naruto and his stance on getting back in action to do what he does best. The full versions to the songs are awesome (though not on this DVD).

The DVD includes the full episode, original and uncut. What that means is that instead of, when looking at the episode on Disney XD, seeing subtitles in the intro, the ending being cut off (or the ending theme not heard at all), as well as never seeing the extra scenes after the credits, that you get to see the intro without any subtitled text, you also get to hear the entire ending with no interference, and in this set of episodes you get several post-credits segments which are quite interesting with many scenes and references to Naruto Part 1. This is perhaps enough reason for me to purchase the DVD (well I love Naruto...)The extras are just trailers for VIZ anime, anime movie, and videogame.

I can gladly say that this is also another addition that one needs to add to their library. The DVD delivers the episodes to us in superior format, the DVD boxart looks great with Gaara the Kazekage of the sand on it, the opening and ending credits song in their their entity are here, dual language audio options, and great menu music, all make this better than the tv version and downloadable versions. I love it and cant wait for Volume 3.
