The Thrills Keep ComingJun 19, 2011
By Jason Talley
"Hard Travelin' Geek"
Thriller Bark continues to present the Straw Hats with perhaps their toughest challenge yet and not everyone is up to it. Some are defeated and some just run in terror. And while the good guys start to form their counterattack the Gecko Moira and the Mysterious Three break out the big guns and no one's plans go exactly as expected.
This is a pretty busy volume as we get a good bit of action and a lot of exposition. But by the time the volume is over we've learned some key stuff about Brook, the bad guys have up the stakes in a major way, old continuity has proven important once again, there have been some laughs and the good guys have started to rally. The last page is a perfect "End Act 1."
The fact that there's so much information thrown at us is the only flaw that I can really find in this volume. But even then it's not enough of an issue that I'd take points off. Thrill Bark may be one of the shorter One Piece sagas but it's still one of my favorites. Don't miss out and DO pick up this volume.
