A Standout ChapterJun 01, 2010
By Jason Talley
"Hard Travelin' Geek"
This volume introduces fan favorite character Boa Hancock into the mix. It's also one where Luffy is flying solo for most of the story which is a position we haven't seen him in for some time.
But with the spotlight his Luffy rises and shines. Not just his fighting ability but his character and compassion get put to the test and seeing how he deals with these challenges is exciting, dramatic and one of the highpoints of the series.
Boa Hancock is also much worth mentioning. In addition to being an important new player in events she also comes with a strong background that's surprisingly dark by One Piece's normal standards. But this is all offset by her hidden side which makes her one of the more interesting characters to join the cast in recent volumes.
Of course, Oda's trademark humor is never far away and there are several moments that provide a good laugh.
Overall, this is one of my favorite volumes of OP and worthy of a place on any manga fan's shelf.
