Manga series that just gets meatier and better and funnier!May 31, 2009 Totally my fave manga right now, SKIP BEAT continues to develop characters and complicate the plot for all involved, and all this without losing steam in the comedy department. Kyoko has kept her nicely complicated tension between her darkness and her humorous enthusiasm and naivete. A totally lovable though not totally goody-goody character, which makes her all the more interesting. When she goes dark, we go oooo, and when she's her goofy self, we laugh our heads off. Terrific.
Because she fears typecasting as an evil character actress, she's decided to turn down all current offers, which strikes the reader as understandable, if dumb. However, the President has more trials and tests for Kyoko in mind, and this time, it also involved Ren and a major star from the past who is going to drive Kyoko nuts (funny cooking/meals section here) as well as teach her how to be an even better actress. His method adds a terrific dimension to the complex situation with Ren/Corn.
I cannot wait to read more. This is a truly superior manga series with enough goofy comedy to make me laugh my head off, and enough drama to occasionally make me get all weepy. And lovely, lovely romance.
Hats off to the crew that puts this baby together. SKIP BEAT is worth following and worth every penny of its price.

A New Gig For KyokoMay 04, 2009 The president has made Kyoko be the personal assitant of Koo Hizuri. The president has a secret motive for this new gig. While Ren worries about Kyoko, Kyoko decides to turn down her offers for new acting roles. Koo over-hears her say this and challenges her to test her acting skills.
This is another great book in the Skip Beat series. The last page leads into a very interesting (and hopefully a very Kyoko/Ren) 19th book.
