5Good full color graphicsJan 10, 2009

Although this book is small in size(being a pocket guide!)it doesn't disappoint as the quality of the graphics is excellent. Each page shows a different pokemon in full color. Most of the pokemon are depicted in different angles so you can get an idea of what a pokemon looks like from the front, back or side. On each page you can find the Pokemon Data (type, abilities, height & weight), National Pokedex Number of the Pokemon, brief descriptoin of the Pokemon and its Special Moves. The evolution process of the pokemon is shown at the bottom of the page. An aphabetical index of all the pokemon can be found at the end of the book.

4The first of two volumesJan 20, 2010
By Lesley Aeschliman
The first volume of Pokemon: The Complete Pokemon Pocket Guide covers Pokemon #001 to #254 (Bulbasaur to Suicune). This book opens with an introductory page that explains how to use the book and says that the book is one volume in a set. In these books, the Pokemon are listed in numerical order. The information included for all the Pokemon are its name, its species, its type, its abilities, its height, its weight, a description, its special moves, and its evolutions. There is also a picture of the Pokemon in its entry.

I bought this book for my son for his birthday. He likes the books, but his major complaint is that, even though these are labeled as being "pocket guides," they don't actually fit into a pocket. I have to agree with him. While these books are smaller in size than the regular handbooks, they are still too big to fit into anyone's pocket.

Even though the Pokemon in the book are arranged in numerical order, there is an index in the back of the book listing the Pokemon in alphabetical order. By using this index, you'll be able to locate where a Pokemon is in the book if you don't know what its number is.

Overall, this guide has good information, but it's very similar to other Pokemon handbooks that have already been released. Specifically, it's very similar to the Pokemon Ultimate Handbook.
I would recommend these books to a Pokemon fan, even if they already have the Pokemon Ultimate Handbook. While the information contained in these books are split into two volumes, these books are still smaller and a little more portable than the Pokemon Ultimate Handbook. Like with most of the other Pokemon handbooks that have been released, these are just as useful to adults as they are to children.

I wrote this review after looking through copies of these books that my husband and I bought our son for his birthday.

3Good for Pokemon lovers, but....Dec 04, 2010
By Cutetriop
I bought it for my 9 year old son who loves to draw Pokemon. He loves the book, but the book came apart on the same day it arrived. It is binded poorly. I would like to suggest to bind in a different way or with a different material so that kids can keep using it over and over.

3Great info but poor binding!Jan 17, 2012

According to my 8 year old: "I really like this book but there's only one problem with it. The first one I got fell apart. Then, I lost a chunk of pages. Half of the lost pages were the index which made me sad. :( So I couldn't easily find Articuno." --- 'Nuff said :)

1Great Content But Poor BindingNov 13, 2010

My daughter loved the content and the graphics are great. She is 7 and was able to understand right-off how the book was laid out. Unfortunately, literally within 1 day a page fell out. Not a huge issue so we taped it back in. Maybe she was reading it THAT much. Shortly thereafter a page or two came out every day which we taped back in. At that point we should have returned it. Within two weeks the binding has nearly come completely off. I hate to be so critical, by giving one star, since the book itself is so good, but I cannot recommend anything if it starts to fall apart immediately and is unusable with a few week time frame.

Off to find a better book....
