5Vampire WarsFeb 04, 2010
In this pulse-pounding volume of Vampire Knight, the characters reach their full potential as the war between the old school vampires and the peace loving Night Class students begins in earnest.

It begins with Aido gently guiding Yuki through the first barrage of overloaded senses which comes with her new state, turning out to be exactly who Yuki needs with her at the moment considering the current status of her relationships with Kaname and Zero. Meanwhile, with the Night Classes' noble ranks down by three as Ichijo watches over still incapacitated Shiki and Rima, Kaname and Rido both make their moves - and Rido unleashes hell on Cross Academy as Kaname finally guns for the Senate, and Kain and Ruka lead a counter offense in Kaname and Ichijo's absence.

In addition to being incredibly exciting, there are also alot of great character moments. Yuki and Aido's friendship is at it's best as he struggles to protect her without support from any other nobles under the chaotic situation and with Yuki still in an initial adjustment stage. Yuki struggles with her feelings for Kaname in light of the revelations in the last volume, and also faces what her new status will mean to her relationship with Zero. There are some brief but touching moments between Shiki and Rima. But most of all, tragedy is in the air as Zero's relationship with his twin Ichiru reaches a shocking climax, and Ichijo makes a decision he's been slowly, perhaps inevitably marching towards through most of the series...

If this is any indication, the rest of the series is going to be a great ride.

4Yuki vs. Zero vs. the worldJan 31, 2010
I am so disappointed that this manga was so short. I mean I know it was typical Manga/Vampire Knight size, but so many things just get started, and I feel like I'm ten again watching Dragon Ball Z where the fight scenes go on for 7 episodes.

Yuki and Kaname both part to do things that only they can do. Kaname is reluctant to leave Yuki's side, but he must face the Senate once and for all. Yuki can't be 'whisked' away to safety while her friends, both human and vamp, are in danger. Can she even use the Artemis Rod now that she's a vampire? And why is Zero's twin holding him at gun point with his own weapon, the Bloody Rose. These questions only beget more questions and have me pulling my hair in frustration. It wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have to wait another few months for the next volume.

I have to say though (this could be a spoiler alert for some of you, depending on what you think a spoiler is) They finally kiss.... and if you don't know who they are... guess. Ah great art work. Great series, the author/illustrator of Meru Peri strikes again, but this time this series actually got turned into an anime. So if you're craving more go download Vampire Knight and Vampire Knight Guilty. Pure goodness.
