Worth the Wait!!Nov 06, 2009 Some may question Yu-Gi-Oh R, since it is developed by Akira Ito, an assistant to Kazuki Takahashi during the earlier Yu-Gi-Oh, rather than Takahashi himself. Don't let this stray you away from buying Yu-Gi-Oh R. The story stays true to the magic of friendship and everything else that is Yu-Gi-Oh. The new cast of duelists is great. Half are introduced here, and I can't wait for the next volume to see the rest. Takahasi was right to trust the future stories of Yu-Gi-Oh to Ito. Don't wait any longer to buy it!!

Good for the ones that like the card game, but not for those who like a story.Oct 26, 2009 Reading this was like playing Sonic Adventure Two. At least Sonic Adventure Two had a plot purpose. What was the purpose of this new story?
Anzu is kidnapped (cliche) and then it's up to Dark Yugi and his friends to save her. In order to get to the main angst ridden villain, they must face these freakish or totally unreal duelists to get to the "boss level" like every video game made out there. I'll give this a chance, but since Takahashi didn't write this, I doubt very much this is going to have the same quality story that his original manga had. I don't see the purpose of Temna at all. He has as much purpose as Dartz did in the filler arc in the anime...NONE! I think it was one of Takahashi's staff members that came up with a fleeting idea. I think some of the stories on [...] would have made a better manga series. Sorry Akira Ito, but you need to learn how to write a decent plot and next time, research the characters a lot better. Get into the writer's mind and consult with him before you undertake something like that.
If you like the card game only, then you'll enjoy this. If you like Takahashi's original manga, you may or may not like it. For me, I'll continue buying it, but I hope it gets better.
